Manthan Mayfair
At Manthan, chef Rohit Ghai delves into his life so far, drawing on the manifold flavours that left their mark on him and his career to craft comforting, yet exquisitely prepared dishes. To accompany them, co-founder Abhi Sangwan has prepared a selection of unique cocktails, inspired by the seven oceans.
Having trained and led some of the most acclaimed eateries in the UK, Ghai and Sangwan’s first joint business venture is Kutir, a renowned Indian restaurant in Chelsea. At Manthan in Mayfair, however, head chef Ghai prepared a menu that reflects his life in food, from the Indian markets of his youth to the kitchens he’s worked at during his career.
The menu at this elegantly furnished restaurant therefore presents a diverse array of Indian staples, for example small plates such as aloo paratha, ghati masala prawns and chicken buttermilk. The mains, meanwhile, include lamb or soya chops, osso buco, egg curry and pink lentil dal, with some Sri Lankan influences as well. You can round things off with a selection of daring desserts such as garlic kheer.
The cocktail section deserves special mention, as they’re designed to complement the dishes – you can even order the Bar Experience set menu that includes some small plates and your choice of two cocktails. These potions are made using grilled and then muddled fresh fruit, along with various botanicals and infusions, and are inspired by the seven oceans.
Manthan also offers a brunch menu and a tasting experience.
