Trinco Sutton

Trinco Sutton isn't just a restaurant; it's more of an all-day, all-evening hangout that happens to serve very good Sri Lankan-inspired food. It works as a café, a dinner spot, a listening bar, and a place where something is usually going on, which makes it a no-brainer option in a high street full of chains and fast-food spots. 

During the day, it's about coffee and food you can take your time with. The menu leans mostly toward plant-based dishes, drawing on Sri Lankan home cooking rather than restaurant formality. You might find things like fragrant dhal, aubergine curry, hoppers or okra fries, alongside baked goods and well-made coffee, though the menu does change regularly. Dishes are always comforting and reasonably priced, and the space itself feels trendy and welcoming, more like visiting an old friend's place than a formal restaurant.

Out back, there's an outdoor rooftop space run by Oru that doubles as a small, seasonal community garden rather than just a place to sit with a drink. It's shared and looked after with locals, with herbs and plants grown on site and sometimes making their way into the kitchen. The garden is also used for workshops, gatherings and events, giving it a neighbourhood feel that goes beyond the restaurant itself and reinforces Trinco's role as a genuine community hub.

On certain evenings, Trinco makes time for Trinco Nights, and the dinner menu shifts to heartier plates, with rotating curries, biryani-style dishes and shareable sides. The listening bar side comes into its own here, with DJs, record labels, live music, wine tastings and collaborations taking over the sound system, often centred around vinyl and global sounds. Some nights are for listening, some are for dancing, and others are just an excuse to hang out with a glass of wine, whether that's at a tasting celebrating a new range or just because you've swung by.
