The guide to Malmö's Christmas markets

In a long-standing tradition, this pedestrian street is lit up with Christmas decorations which then culminate in a market, in what is popularly known as Gustav - one of the city's busiest squares. Passers-by stop for a while to admire the decorations here and along Södertull and to enjoy seasonal hot food and drinks before they move on. The Christmas market on Gustav Adolfs Torg is cosy with a focus on authentic handicrafts, goodies and fine Christmas gifts.

The Christmas market in Limhamn just outside Malmö is an annual market with stall holders selling arts and crafts, Christmas decorations, food and drinks. The market in Limhamn square also has live music, dancing around the Christmas tree and a visit from the city's Lucia. 

The annual Mitt Möllan Christmas market in the heart of Malmö is full of local exhibitors and stores offering sustainable and often locally-produced items. If your hunger gets the best of you in the middle of your Christmas shopping, just head to the food court and pick something delicious to eat and drink.

Malmö Museum invites you to a traditional Christmas market featuring crafts, food, and children's activities – a true Christmas market in a historical setting. Children can meet Father Christmas and enjoy festive crafts.

The shopping centre Kronprinsen invites you to a Christmas market every advent weekend. There will be fresh-baked goods, warming mulled wine, and lights that twinkle in the winter darkness. A cosy atmosphere with music and festive surprises is also promised, and Father Christmas might even pay a visit?

Katrinetorp Landeri, one of the country's best-preserved 19th century buildings, hosts a wonderful annual Christmas market. Shop for locally produced food, handicrafts and antiques, enjoy live music, dance around the tree and take a look inside a fairytale house.

After a few twirls on the skating rink in Folkets Park, head to Far i Hatten to warm up and get a dose of Christmas spirit. Their inner courtyard is filled with market stalls, selling everything from handicrafts and design items to food from local producers. As usual, the restaurant serves pizzas baked in a wood-fired oven, and mulled wine and seasonal goodies are also on the menu.

Bondens egen Marknad farmers market in Malmö helps you get ready for the festive season with a Christmas market that offers everything you could possibly need for a proper Scanian Christmas. Expect a lot of tasty treats in the form of locally produced and small-scale food products, as well as a cosy Christmas atmosphere at Drottningtorget.

Between Caroli church and the shopping centre, you can shop for Christmas gifts, enjoy delicious food, and take part in pony rides, face painting, Christmas crafts, and music. The exhibitors sell freshly made crêpes, honey, peppermint sweets, flowers, wreaths – and much more. Just a stone's throw away, on Drottningtorget, the Farmers' Market is also taking place.
