My friend and I were among the first to visit them at the grand opening, starting to queue outside from 8:30, we received our first matcha latte around 9:40, my pancake came around 10, and my friend's pancake, which she ordered right after me, came around 10:20, 20 minutes later.
❌ First and foremost, the pancakes did not match what was marketed at all, completely different things. I came there for the viral videos with matcha pancakes that have a mochi leaf on top, where cutting into the pancakes causes matcha sauce to flow out; no, it’s something entirely different they are serving. None of the pancakes you see in the videos exist in their café. ❌ They are using videos from another café in Australia to market as if those were their pancakes, big red flag, it was a total lie that many, including myself, fell for. ❌ The pancakes were neither large nor fluffy. Sure, they are fluffier than regular Swedish pancakes, but far from what is shown in the marketing (of course not, as it wasn't even their video). ❌ Extremely long wait time, my friend who ordered right after me got her pancake about 20 minutes after mine, it has nothing to do with how many customers they had; 20 minutes between two servings is absurd. ❌ The matcha latte was lukewarm, the taste is no different from what you could make, matcha powder with sugar plus milk; 60 SEK is definitely not worth that. ❌ The taste of the pancakes, not bad, but nothing special either; purely taste-wise, I would give it 5/10, meaning it tastes like a regular pancake; you can't expect anything more than that. Considering the café is located in central Stockholm, it could be 100 SEK, but 150 SEK is way too much. ❌ I completely agree that the quality of the food they serve feels more like a hobby than a business.
I initially gave 2 stars due to the aesthetic arrangement of the pancakes and ingredients on the plate despite all the criticism, so we got nice pictures, but based on the owner's words about the grand opening, I had to change my rating to 1 star.
The owner explained that the pancakes were not fluffy because their mixer broke down; the truth is that Clas Ohlson is just across the street, the owner could have simply run and bought a mixer for the emergency. However, if they know that their mixer broke down and they cannot deliver the same quality as intended, they should be transparent with customers and inform them about this, apologize, and offer a discount on the order instead of pretending nothing has happened, charging full price, and delivering something that did not match what was marketed and promised. It’s just funny that after receiving bad reviews on day 1, they jumped out the next day and explained everything happened due to bad luck.
In light of the misleading marketing, until the owner handled the situation and the excuses that were laid out the day after, I will never visit there again—even if they have fixed their mixer.
