Part work of art, part thrill-seekers' delight, the squiggly wonder that is the ArcelorMittal Orbit in East London is reopening on Friday 14 February.

Designed by renowned sculptor Anish Kapoor, the eye-catching red structure in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park was unveiled to largely negative reviews as part of East London's Olympic glow-up in 2012. The largest piece of public art in the country, the ArcelorMittal Orbit also doubles as the longest tunnel slide in the world, with visitors zipping through a dozen twists and turns and covering 178 metres in a matter of seconds. Those after a more sedate experience can also just admire the view from the top before taking the stairs back down.

Despite being one of the more unique attractions in the country, the ArcelorMittal Orbit closed in early 2024 to undergo maintenance and transition to new management. Now run by adventure park operators Zip World, it's finally ready to reopen this week, complete with a rebranded slide, now called the Helix.
