A historic pub in Shoreditch is set to be transformed into a brand new snazzy restaurant, The Knave of Clubs, under the co-owner of the iconic Camberwell Arms, Franks and Bambi, James Dye. He'll work alongside Benjy Leibowitz, formerly of JKS, inHouse, and The NoMad in New York City, while Patrick Powell will oversee the food. Patrick has also worked at legendary institutions like Allegra, Midland Grand Dining Room, and Chiltern Firehouse.

The new spot is situated at the corner of Bethnal Green Road and Club Row and originally opened in 1880 to serve traders at the Club Row bird market. It closed in the 1980s but has seen various revamps since, including its time as Les Trois Garçons in the 1990s. Now, The Knave is being restored to its former glory with original features like a tiled entryway, grand mirrors, a new bar, and an open kitchen.
The food is set to steal the limelight, with Chermoula-marinated rotisserie chicken as the signature dish. It'll be cooked on the custom rotisserie grill and served with chicken fat potatoes. Other highlights include fresh oysters, prawn scotch eggs with chilli jam, venison sausage rolls with spiced ketchup, and a banging Sunday roast with all the trimmings. A Guinness will be their drink of choice, but they'll also have many other options.
The Knave of Clubs will re-open in Feb 2025.
