A cosmic journey awaits at the Barbican as the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra presents the world premiere of 'Cosmic Rhapsody', a bold new work by composer Lim. It kicks off at 7.30pm on Monday, 5 May, and is a 42-minute piece for piano and orchestra that draws inspiration from NASA's return to space following a decade-long hiatus.
The orchestral works have been created by Susan Lim and Christina Teenz Tan, with music by Manu Martin, unfolding across seven acts and 17 tracks. Pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet performs the solo, conducted by Robert Ziegler, with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and London Voices and the City of London Choir provide choral textures, featuring vocals from Tom Ball.
The world premiere of Lim Cosmic Rhapsody for Piano and Orchestra will take place on 5 May 2025 at the Barbican Hall. Book tickets here.
