Dishoom launches its first merch collection celebrating iconic Indian women

You only have to see the queue snaking out of any of Dishoom's branches at dinner time to see how popular the restaurant group is with Londoners. If you're one of those eager queuers and you want to wear your love for the restaurant with pride, you finally can. Dishoom has just dropped its first merch collection in collaboration with UK-based illustrator Manjit Thapp and it's all about celebrating women from Indian history who are important but overlooked.

Titled 'The Trailblazers', the collection is made up of three t-shirts that each carry an original design depicting an iconic woman – suffragette Princess Sophia Duleep Singh, freedom fighter Rani Lakshmi Bai, and photojournalist Homai Vyarawalla. The project is an ideal fit for Thapp's work, which highlights the female experience and representation of South Asian women in particular.

Each limited edition design is unisex and features bright colours, detailed portraits, and layered motifs that depict important moments in the life of each woman. The Dishoom x Manjit Thapp collection is only available for a limited time so don't delay if you want to get your hands on a t-shirt – check out the Dishoom online store to bag yours, and why not grab some naan roll kits or tasty seasonings to bring the restaurant's flavours home while you're at it.
