Good news for vegans: Chef Alexis Gauthier's plant-based revolution is going strong

A couple of years ago, renowned chef Alexis Gauthier caused quite a stir in the fine dining world when his flagship French restaurant in Soho went fully plant-based. The savvy move seems to have worked in his favour, as his restaurant group is flourishing, with two new additions announced for June.

The first of these is Studio Gauthier, is expanding on the success of Gauthier Soho and will offer 100% plant-based tasting menus, with dishes such as wild garlic and rocket focaccia with Provençal garlic soup, barbecued loin of kohlrabi, and cucumber samphire and sea broth. With the new opening, Alexis Gauthier hopes to bring his Soho work to a wider audience, in a more relaxed setting.

Gauthier's second new opening is 123V Bakery, a spin-off of his 123V venture in Mayfair that serves accessible contemporary cuisine from around the world – plant-based, of course. 123V Bakery will operate as a café and bakery, serving coffee, pastries, and Gauthier Soho breads, with lunchtime options including focaccia and sourdough sandwiches. There'll also be a bottomless salad bar that'll change daily.

Both of the new opening will share a space at the BFI Stephen Street venue, with 123V Bakery in the front and Studio Gauthier in the back. Split into two areas, the venue includes an open kitchen, booths, and two terraces. Both 123V Bakery and Studio Gauthier are set to open in June, with the exact date still to be announced.
