The influential 50 Top Pizza guide has published its annual rankings and there's a familiar name at the top again. London's Napoli on the Road and its master pizzaiolo Michele Pascarella have once again snagged the first place – for the third year running!
A generational run might be on our hands, with Pascarella's pizzas fighting off all comers for a third top spot in as many years. Napoli on the Road, also available at a flagship Soho location since early this year, simply does the traditional Neapolitan pizza style better than anyone else in Europe outside Italy, and it's going to take serious effort to unseat it from its now already pretty comfy throne.

That's not to say there aren't any contenders – in fact, some of them come from within London as well. Ciro Salvo's 50 Kalò near Trafalgar Square has once again missed the top spot by a hair, placing fourth, while Hampstead's L'Antica Pizzeria faltered a bit, dropping to #28 compared to last year's #25. There's also a new challenger on the rise – Connie's Pizza, an up-and-coming slinger of the fast-spreading crispy pizzas that have been sort of adopted by London as its very own style. The Peckham pizzeria just barely cracked the Top 50 Pizza list, coming in at #48, but did also bag the One to Watch award – and we certainly will.
You can check out the full Top 50 Pizza Europe selection here. The top 20 pizzerias on the list also automatically qualify for the 100 Best Pizzerias in the World ranking, which will be revealed on 15 September, so more pizza pizzazz might be heading London's way soon. Stay tuned!
