E Pellicci, a long-standing favourite of London's breakfast scene, has made waves globally by earning a spot on TasteAtlas' list of the 100 most legendary restaurants in the world. This beloved café in Bethnal Green has been serving British and Italian classics to Londoners for over a century, remaining under the ownership of the same Italian family since it first opened its doors in 1900.
E Pellicci has become known for its combination of Italian classics and traditional English breakfasts and proudly holds the 83rd spot on the TasteAtlas list, making it the only café in the UK to be featured.
The café has a wonderful history; it was founded by Priamo Pellicci, who made the journey from Florence to London in the early 1900s. After Priamo passed away, his incredible wife Elide took the reins of the business while lovingly raising their seven children—what an impressive achievement. This inspired the "E" in the café's name, paying tribute to her courage and strength.
The café's interior is also one of the reasons everyone loves this spot so much, beautifully crafted by a local carpenter back in 1946. This artistry has earned it a Grade II listed status, highlighting its historical and aesthetic significance.
The TasteAtlas database includes 23,952 traditional eateries, each celebrated as a cultural landmark and known for its enduring presence, consistency, and signature dishes.
