Now in its 15th year, Open City Documentary Festival continues to provide a space for dialogue, reflection, and diverse storytelling. Founded in 2011, the festival was created to amplify vital narratives and promote cultural openness.

This year's edition highlights stories of struggle and solidarity, from experimental pioneers Corinne and Arthur Cantrill to Jocelyne Saab's fight for justice, and includes works that interrogate the act of curating culture during political unrest. A key feature is “The Land of Common Disgrace”, a public protest-performance addressing the prosecution of pro-Palestinian demonstrators in the UK. The 2025 programme offers an ambitious mix of screenings, talks, and participatory projects celebrating the radical potential of documentary film.
Open City Documentary Festival 2025 is taking place at multiple London venues from 6 to 11 May. You can find out more about the programme and book tickets here.
