Prairie Fire is going out with a Super Bowl Tailgate party

The Kansas-style BBQ joint in Wood Lane has announced its imminent closure, but there's one last throwdown to get through.

Prairie Fire, a laidback spot in the Wood Lane Arches where Kansas-born chef Michael Gratz paired hearty grilling with freshly poured pints, has called it quits. The restaurant announced on Instagram that they'll be closing down for good on Monday 12 February, but there's still one last party to get through at this American-loving spot.

Super Bowl LVIII, the final game of the 2023 NFL season, take place on Sunday and could be one of the most-watched ones yet – not so much on account of the game itself but the teams involved. The match will be played between the San Francisco 49ers and defending champions the Kansas City Chiefs, with the latter not only one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time in Patrick Mahomes, but also a certain Travis Kelce. Kelce's budding romance with Taylor Swift has recently captured global headlines and driven Swifties everywhere towards NFL fandom. Oh, and R&B great Usher is performing during halftime. All in all, this is going to be a big one.

So, whether you're a fan of the NFL, Taylor Swift, Usher, or just good old American cookin', you'll want to get yourself down to Prairie Fire on Sunday for their Super Bowl Tailgate party, one last hurrah before closing time. Taking place from 8pm to 3am (kick-off time is at 11.30pm), the watch party will feature comfort food and plenty of beer, with welcome snacks and a pint included in the ticket price.
