Queer East Festival 2025 runs from 23 April to 18 May at venues across London, celebrating queer cinema and performance from East and Southeast Asia with over 100 films, performances and events.

Opening with Takeshi Kitano's historical epic “Kubi” and closing with the South Korean trans documentary “Edhi Alice”, the festival explores identity, activism, and collective memory. The programme features powerful films such as “Under the Moonlight”, “Pierce”, and “My Sunshine”, spanning topics from queer adolescence to gender expression and family ties. Meanwhile, short film programmes examine themes like visibility, belonging, migration, and queer futures, while the Expanded section blends cinema with live performance and workshops.

Now in its sixth year, Queer East continues to provide a vital platform for underrepresented voices, challenging stereotypes and celebrating diverse queer Asian experiences. The festival works collaboratively with cultural partners to reshape screen culture and inspire meaningful dialogue.
