Solis, from the duo behind TĀ TĀ Eatery, opening this October in Arcade Battersea

Renowned chefs Ana Gonçalves and Zijun Meng are thrilled to introduce their latest culinary venture, Solis, set to open its doors in Arcade Battersea on October 4th. Named in homage to the 16th-century explorer Juan Díaz de Solis, believed to be the first European to set foot on modern-day Uruguay, Solis is an ode to the flavours and influences encountered during this historic journey. The restaurant's focus is a chicken and steak grill, drawing inspiration from Spain, Portugal, Uruguay, and Argentina.

Co-founder Ana Gonçalves shares her vision for Solis, stating, “Solis is a deeply personal restaurant for me. I aimed to create a welcoming space for everyone, serving the kind of food that has been a part of my life since childhood—simple, flavourful, and approachable. We want Solis to feel like a second home for all, a warm and unpretentious haven where you can't resist returning for more.”

The menu's "de la parilla" section boasts dishes such as half a spatchcock chicken paired with their signature smoked Aji-Aji oil and flat-iron steak accompanied by Solis' unique sauce. Both dishes come with crispy fries and the classic Asador salad, a Portuguese-style ensemble of sliced onions and tomatoes drizzled with oregano and olive oil. Additional sauce options, including the garlicky and creamy Mojo Verde, are available to elevate your dining experience.

The "para picar" section offers small plates featuring inventive dishes like Huevos Rellenos, a twist on devilled eggs with spiced tuna filling and salsa golf sauce, as well as Elotes Asados, a street-style grilled corn on the cob with crema dressing and zesty lime-chili seasoning.

Solis will open 4 October.
