Lupa, an Italian restaurant in Highbury, is set to become one of London's hottest new spots, in no small part thanks to being co-owned by actor Theo James.
James, known for his roles in “The White Lotus” and “The Gentlemen,” teamed up with another Highbury local, Carousel's Ed Templeton, and head chef Naz Hassan to venture into the restaurant world. Their first venue, Lupa, is a cosy neighbourhood restaurant found on a corner in North London. With a stated mission of serving crowd-pleasing comfort food in relaxed setting, Hassan looks to Rome and the surrounding region of Lazio for inspiration. The resulting seasonal menu features tempting regional delicacies like fried courgette flowers, pici cacio e pepe pasta, slow-cooked porchetta, and pan-fried cod, with homemade desserts by pastry chef Alessandro Boscolo to round it all off. Aperitivos and Italian wines provide the ideal accompaniment at this welcoming North London osteria, with furnishings including both rustic traditional elements and original Victorian fixtures.
Lupa launched this past weekend and looks to be quite the hit already, judging by social media traffic. It's open for dinner as well as lunch on weekends, and you can book your spot here.
