On 24 and 25 July, SPLAT!, a fun physical comedy about art and collaboration, is landing at Underbelly Boulevard in Soho for just two can't-miss performances. Crafted for children aged 3 to 7 (plus their grown-ups), this language-free show has been exciting audiences around the UK with its visual storytelling and chaos, and now it's London's turn.
It's set inside a bright, messy artist's studio, and follows two aspiring painters – one neat and methodical, the other mischievous and wild – as they clash, create, and learn to work together. Expect belly laughs and plenty of paint as the pair navigate the history of art, from cave drawings to Pop Art, with nods to the likes of Frida Kahlo, Van Gogh, Warhol, and Banksy along the way.
Co-devised with award-winning deaf artist and filmmaker Brian Duffy, SPLAT! is entirely non-verbal, making it fully accessible to deaf audiences, non-English speakers, and pre-verbal children. It's as inclusive as it is entertaining, offering an enriching sensory theatre experience where play takes centre stage.
The show was developed in response to growing concerns around creative play in children's education post-pandemic, and champions the value of joy, mess and spontaneity in early development. It's all wrapped up in 55 minutes of slapstick fun, and yes, things do get very, very messy.
Catch SPLAT! at Underbelly Boulevard, Soho, on Thursday 24 and Friday 25 July 2025 at 2pm. More info and tickets here.
