This new afternoon tea is inspired by your favourite artists

The Kensington Hotel has reinvented the humble afternoon tea into an art-filled experience with its new expressionist form inspired by some of the world's most renowned artists. This traditional afternoon tea will include sweet and savoury treats and drinks modelled on famous art pieces, like a 'Girl with the Balloon' cocktail, inspired by the evocative work of Banksy.
The Kensington's culinary creatives have sculpted a gallery of sweet and savoury treats layered across the traditional three-tiered silver stand that pays homage to influential artists Jackson Pollock, Yayoi Kusama and Alicja Kwade. The expressionism of Pollock's famed 'drip technique' has been recreated in the dark chocolate mousse tart with passion fruit parfait, and the mango mousse surrounding coconut yoghurt cream is influenced by Japanese artist Kusama's playful polka-dot pumpkin. There's also white chocolate vanilla mousse with pineapple compote centre inspired by the spheres commonly seen in contemporary visual artist Kwade's works.
Alongside art-inspired treats, delicate finger sandwiches are filled with all-time favourites, like smoked salmon with lemon cream cheese, cucumber with mint cream, and pastrami with gherkin and horseradish. Warm, fresh-baked plain and fruit scones are ready to be slathered in homemade strawberry jam and Cornish clotted cream, while the selection of teas from The Rare Tea Company provides the perfect accompaniment. The Art of Afternoon Tea is served in the quintessential Town House hotel restaurant, with open fireplaces, colourful artwork, and pretty artsy objects.
The Kensington Hotel is located in a corner of the capital, surrounded by many art galleries featuring everything from the classic to the contemporary. So, this artsy afternoon tea is the perfect lunch for an art-filled day in the city.
The Art of Afternoon Tea is available every day from 12 pm to 4.30 pm for £58 per person or £70 per person, including a glass of champagne.
