The Museum of the Home in Hoxton is hosting a new exhibition of world-class photographs selected for the World Food Photography Awards, sponsored by Tenderstem® Bimi® Broccolini, running until Sunday, September 7. The free exhibition showcases how food touches lives in a remarkable diversity of ways, from growing, harvesting, and cooking to eating, celebrating, and surviving.
Visitors can explore over 25 award categories, including Fortnum & Mason Food at the Table, The Jamie Oliver Youth Prize, Marks & Spencer Food Portraiture, and Food for the Family, supported by The Felix Project and the World Food Programme Food for Life. The exhibition showcases a diverse range of photographic styles, including portraiture, travel photography, photojournalism, landscapes, wedding photography, and even mobile phone shots.
Highlights include photojournalistic work that captures political issues surrounding food, intimate images of families sharing meals at home, and joyful scenes where food brings people together. The exhibition celebrates the connections between food and home, offering a visual and thought-provoking journey.
The judging panel is chaired by legendary food photographer David Loftus and features Museum of the Home's Director Sonia Solicari, Jamie Oliver, Claire Reichenbach (CEO, The James Beard Foundation), Tom Athron (CEO, Fortnum & Mason), Max La Manna (award-winning chef and author), and Alison Morley (Chair Emerita, International Center for Photography, NYC).
Danielle Patten, Director of Creative Programmes and Collections at the museum, says: "By shining a spotlight on photography, we are opening up new conversations about what home means in the past, present, and future. Join us in this visual journey that captures the heart of home through the lens of a camera."
The World Food Photography Awards is free to attend and takes place until September 7.
