With only an old-timey lamp above the door announcing its existence, Found is not easily found. This speakeasy-style drinking den in Shoreditch is based around the belief that no matter one’s preferences or past experience, what truly defines a bar is the correct combination of service and substance.

Walk through the doorway and down the stairs to find yourself in a basement hideaway that greets you with warmth even on the coldest days. The cool venue is spread out across four rooms, ranging from the exposed brick and wood furnishings of the main bar to cosy whitewashed nooks that are perfect for hatching covert plots and engaging in forbidden trysts. The decor is sparse, retaining the humble, unpretentious ambiance of the place.

The drinks list at this bar is concise and well-rounded, with a compact selection of classic cocktails that are given intriguing twists, for example the Espresso Martini with Calvados brandy, coffee liqueur and coffee, as well as house specials. The menu encompasses six of each major spirit varietal and a rotating seventh, as well as some wine and beer. Also, if you’re after a cocktail that’s not on the menu, the expert bartenders are willing to try their hand at it.
