The Albion

When the temperatures start rising, so does The Albion's rank among pubs in not just Islington, but the capital as whole, thanks to its beautiful garden. That's not to say it's not a quality stop for a pint and a bite the rest of the year as well.

Dining in the sun, on wooden furniture set out beneath drooping wisteria flowers, is undoubtedly the peak Albion experience, but this Georgian pub has many things going for it regardless of the season. For starters, the interior more than matches the outside area when it comes to beauty and cosiness, with a traditional polished wood setting and large windows providing views of the garden. A private dining room, designed by local interior designer Bettina Schmid and featuring a single long table that can seat up to 24 guests, is also available for all sorts of events and celebrations, from business meetings to birthday parties.

The gastronomical offer at The Albion is up to snuff as well, with the all-day menu revolving around seasonality and tradition. Groups and families will be happy to hear that there are quite a few dishes that are designed for sharing, including a whole suckling pig that can feed up to ten people. Elsewhere on the menu, you'll find pub classics such as beer-battered haddock with triple-cooked chips, a burger, a beef pot pie and more. Various starters and puddings are served as well, including dessert wines. Speaking of wine, The Albion has a lengthy wine list that pairs well with the food, as well as draught beers, spirits and some classic cocktails.
