Raaz

Indian food honed with precision and skill

Raaz, a halal-friendly restaurant in South London, opened its doors in autumn 2025 under the direction of a chef whose career includes stints at Michelin-starred kitchens such as Benares and Jamavar. His first solo project blends refined design with warmth, featuring dark wood panels, floral motifs, and a mood-setting soundtrack. The menu showcases regional Indian cooking at its best, while weekends bring a relaxed brunch service into the mix.

Meicasso

A local fav

Meicasso is a laid-back local favourite dishing up Middle Eastern and Mediterranean plates. This family-run spot serves halal-certified food across the board – think bright mezze, succulent, sizzling grills, and just-made flatbreads. Portions are generous, veggie options are abundant, and the vibe is both warm and unpretentious.

A falafel hot spot

This award-winning Kurdish restaurant is a local gem, renowned for its delicious Kurdish cuisine, much of which is halal. The menu's packed with favourites like crispy borek pastries, colourful mezze, and juicy kebabs, but what really sets Nandine apart is its falafel, made with lentils instead of chickpeas. Have it in a burger, wrapped up and toasted, or loaded onto a mezze platter.

Roti Brothers

Delish comfort food

Roti Brothers is all about proper comfort food done right. The menu is packed with juicy burgers, fully loaded wraps, succulent steaks, and all the sides you could want. What started as a food truck now has a flourishing permanent spot in Crystal Palace. There's something for everyone, with plenty of vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal options to choose from.

Pizza Pilgrims

Halal pizza

Nobody does classic Neapolitan pizzas quite like Pizza Pilgrims, who have perfected the crust here (hence their motto: 'In Crust We Trust'). They source all their ingredients straight from Italy to craft a range of options – four cheese, eight cheese, nduja, spicy honey, and more. And good news if you're after halal options, all the cheese is halal, and they've even sourced a killer spicy turkey pepp.

Berenjak

Iranian hole-in-the-wall

This authentic Iranian restaurant has earned a serious reputation for its mezze and kebabs. The snug space means you'll likely be shoulder-to-shoulder with fellow diners as you perch at the counter, watching chefs put twists on familiar dishes like creamy black chickpea hummus, perfect for scooping up with just-baked flatbreads. There's limited pavement seating and a few tables tucked away in the garden-style room at the back. FYI: Only the lamb and chicken are halal.

Somunnan

Halal feasting

Somunnan serves authentic Korean dishes that are all entirely halal. The menu features a mix of curries, juicy tandoori dishes, and veggie options, including paneer tikka, all served with fluffy basmati rice and fresh, traditional breads. The vibe is no-frills and casual, making it perfect for a laid-back, halal-friendly feast.

Chick and Beers

Halal chicken

Chick and Beers is all about fried chicken done as it should be, especially their Korean-style option, smothered in fiery gochujang. All their chicken is halal, from the signature glazed fried pieces to the wings. There are also veggie nuggets, plus plenty of fries and sides to round out the meal. It's a little way out near Wimbledon, but absolutely worth the trip.

Amigos Burgers & Shakes

Proper comfort food

It's all about top-notch burgers at Amigos Burgers and Shakes, where they serve stacked patties, loaded sides, thick shakes and more. And yes, everything on the menu is 100% halal. The beef and chicken are unstunned, and while Amigos isn't part of any official halal board, they work only with SALSA or BRC-approved suppliers, so you can tuck into anything on the menu with confidence.

Nanny Bill's

Fully-stacked burgers

Starting as a street food venture, this burger spot is now popping up in spots all over London and has become a proper local legend. It's named after the owners' grandmother, Bill, who ran her own café in the 1970s and 1980s. They serve hand-pressed burgers, including halal beef and chicken options, think crispy buttermilk fried chicken and stacked double beef patties. They also serve plant-based burgers for the veggies and vegans.

Shrimp Shack

Halal-friendly shrimp

Shrimp Shack is a fast food spot in Streatham that serves up shrimp with a South African twist. It's a colourful joint where you can build your own dish, choosing your preferred size, dip, and seasoning to accompany the juicy morsels. There's plenty more on the menu too, with other seafood and meat dishes to try. And it's good to know that all their meat products are Certified Halal.

Baba G's

Indian burgers

If you're in the know with London's street food scene, chances are you've heard of Baba G's and their legendary Bhangra Burger. What started as a pop-up has grown into several permanent spots across the city, including south in Brixton and Peckham. The menu features Indian-inspired burgers that are all halal-friendly, such as the lamb jalfrezi burger, served with mango raita, chilli pickle, and a crispy onion bhaji.
