Where to eat Thai food in Soho

From fragrant curries to spicy noodle dishes.

Kiln

Northern-Thai food

Kiln on Soho's Brewer Street is one of the most popular Thai restaurants in London and has regularly been named one of the best restaurants in the country. The menu here is an ode to northern-style Thai food, like laap sausage and slow-grilled red mullet, although the menu does change. Inside, the setting is laid-back and unpretentious, setting the scene for a memorable meal in Soho.

Speedboat Bar

Inspired by Bangkok

You'll love Speedboat Bar in Soho if spicy food is your jam. This retro bar and restaurant is inspired by the bustling late-night canteens of Bangkok's own Chinatown. It's the second venture from chef Like Farrell, who is also the mastermind behind the iconic restaurant Plaza Khao Gang. The food menu is chock full of fiery dishes like drunken noodles and zesty seafood salads, while the drinks list is creative and modern, including options like whisky sodas and cold Singha beer. The bar is open late, and there's also a pool table and Thai pop and rock music to enjoy.

Patara

A taste of Thailand

Patara is a contemporary Thai restaurant in Soho that serves authentic Thai cuisine in a laid-back, smart setting. All of the chefs who work there are trained in Thailand, where they learn to respect the quality of ingredients and how to blend Thai and Western techniques. They also boast restaurants in South Kensington, Knightsbridge, Oxford Circus, and Wimbledon.

Plaza Khao Gaeng

Jungle fare

Plaza Khao Gaeng is a venture from Speedboat Bar's founder, Luke Farrell. It's located on the mezzanine of Arcade Food Hall and showcases bold, coast-to-jungle Thai cuisine. The rich southern Thai curries are a highlight, made with fresh coconut milk and fragrant curry pastes. Stir-fries and set menus for the table are also favourites. The restaurant also earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2023.

Banana Tree

Pan-Asian cuisine

Banana Tree in Soho is the place to go for pan-Asian cuisine in a modern, industrial setting. The menu includes everything from curries and noodles to  salads inspired by Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore. There's a set lunch option and a kids' menu, which is great for all ages. The fully-stocked bar inclues wine, Asian beers, and cocktails.
