Batty Langley's Hotel
Offering upscale luxury at a more affordable price, you'd be forgiven for thinking Batty Langley's founders had looted some poor lordly chap's 18th century palace for their furnishings. The vibrant, beautifully decorated bedrooms, each with its own character, boast carefully restored antiques, canopy beds, finely carved headboards, a wealth of rich fabrics, heavy curtains, gilded taps and more, all carefully arranged for showstopping impact. That's not to say the modern amenities are lacking, as each bedroom comes with a flat-screen TV, media hub, free WiFi and more.
The hotel's colourful settings are perfect for fashionable photo shoots and filming, and there are discreet meeting rooms available as well.
As befits the aristocratic vibe, breakfast can be served in your room, or you can take it in the equally lovely public areas on the ground floor, including a sunny courtyard. The breakfast is prepared in collaboration with the famed Brick Lane Beigel bakery nearby, offering beigels as well as fresh croissants and more.
Spitalfields Market with fashion, home goods and food stalls is just around the corner, with Liverpool Street Station just a few minutes further down the street. The lively Shoreditch area offers plenty of entertainment and all sorts of dining options, while landmarks such as the Tower of London, St. Paul's Cathedral and the River Thames are all less than half an hour on foot away.
