Venture deep enough into London's concrete jungle and you might come up on a, well, jungle jungle. Amazónico is the brainchild of husband and wife restauranteurs Sandro Silva and Marta Seco, whose first such establishment in Madrid quickly become one of the Spanish city's most popular restaurants.
The London branch is the couple's first international outing. The immediately recognisable and immersive rainforest environment, full of luscious foliage and natural materials, is carefully designed to transport diners as close to South America as possible while still remaining at their tables. You'd imagine the menu would follow suit, but while it certainly dips into the tropical flavours and traditional dishes of the Amazon region, it also takes a rather unexpected turn with a unique sushi menu, inspired by the Asian communities who live there. The fresh seafood is joined by charcoal grilled meats on the menu, with both Argentinian beef and wagyu represented, and the chefs are well-versed in using vibrant seasonal ingredients to keep things novel.
There's also plenty of entertainment to enjoy, with a live house band reflecting the team's passion for music with its jazz, bossa nova and swing serenades. There are also resident DJs providing tropical beats to go with specialist cocktails in the bar and lounge, and with the open kitchen on full display, there's always something going on to keep an eye out for.
