From its humble beginnings in Brixton, Kaosarn has expanded to additional locations around London, bringing with it the affordable and tasty Thai eats that made it such a beloved South London spot.

The family-run restaurants draw on their heritage and Thai tradition to offer handmade specialties. Starting out in the popular Brixton Market in 2011, Kaosarn quickly built a reputation as a go-to Thai spot. Punters from all over the city regularly queued up outside for a chance at the authentic food being prepared inside, and new locations in Clapham and Tooting followed soon after.

The menu at the Kaosarn restaurants is influenced by Bangkok’s markets and their famed variety. Full of classic Thai dishes at affordable prices, it includes staples such as massaman curry, kao pad fried rice with eggs, veg and your choice of meat, and nutritious pad thai noodles. If you want to wander around the market with your tastebuds, you can try larb, a spicy minced meat salad, gai tod deep-fried garlic and pepper chicken, or one of the dishes featuring fried fish. All of the dishes are available as eat in or takeaway, and most can be adapted for vegan or gluten-free requirements. Meanwhile, the drinks at Khaosarn are BYO, so stopping by a shop to grab your favourite tipple is a must.
