Good food but really bad service. We had booked an igloo at 19.30 for our party of 6 people. At 20.10 we were allowed to enter our igloo. The starter was delayed and when the main course finally arrived, it was 1 hour and 15 minutes after the time we booked for dinner. The starter was a sharing style with "tacos" you had to build yourself with green leaves as a base. Sad not to have any napkins when you have to eat with your hands (we didn't get cutlery until we asked for it either). The pre-drinks arrived 40 minutes after our booked time and one of them was not included, without explanation. When we asked for it, "it was out of stock and that's why it took so long". Since several of the party have a very hard time with coriander, they asked for the food without coriander, which the waiter said was fine if we could all take food without coriander. We said yes to this but still got the dishes stuffed with coriander. As compensation for the 40 minutes of waiting for the booked table, we were offered free coffee. Three people ordered regular coffee, one ordered a coffee drink and two declined, whereupon the waiter explained that they only offer regular coffee and not coffee drinks. Ok, I'll pay for it, the person said. Then we got three regular coffees but no coffee drink, and had to pay the bill. Still no coffee drink and when everyone had finished drinking and we went in and asked for it at the bar they were surprised that we didn't get it yet, so we asked for the money back for it so we could go home.
On the whole, a real disappointment. We are on the Thai boat every summer and had longed to try the igloo. The food was good but the service below all criticism. The girls who work are nice but the waiting time and nonchalance we happened to do is not okay, especially not for a pre-booked party that pays several thousand for dinner.
When we pointed out the long waiting time, the waiter explained that they had really annoying customers who refused to leave the igloo we should have gotten and that they had indeed been you before and been really annoying then too and that they had been blocked from being able to book a table again. Sad for them to experience "annoying customers" but nothing that I, as another guest, want to hear stories about.
