Göteborgs Pepparkaks­­­­­bageri

Göteborgs Pepparkaksbageri have been baking their popular citrus gingerbread biscuits, or Göteborgpepparkakor, according to a secret recipe since 1924. In winter 2020 the business went through a complete renovation and visitors can now order and buy bread, cakes and pastries, coffee and other treats in the shop.  

Despite their renovation, the gingerbread biscuits Göteborgs Pepparkaksbageri make are exactly the same as when the company was founded in 1924. The secret recipe is in good hands and the biscuits are still homemade in exactly the same old-fashioned way on S:t Sigfridsgatan. The shop sells gingerbread biscuits to take home with you, as well as other goodies such as bread, cakes and pastries, coffee and artisanal sweets. 

Over the first decades of the first company, the gingerbread biscuits were just one part of their range, but that changed as they became more and more popular. The bakery has been given several prestigious awards for their biscuits, including a diploma from the Swedish Academy of Gastronomy for “many years of baking unparalleled gingerbread biscuits”, and another from Gourmet magazine who named them Sweden's best gingerbread biscuit bakery.
