Simple, unimaginative and a real slump. I have wanted to visit Tolv vinbar for a long time as the menu has looked incredibly exciting, and the praise has been many. Finally we got an evening to slip in for some picking, and started with olives and oysters. One bowl of olives came, but the other bowl and the oysters took an incredibly long time. So is the drink. The olives were fantastically good and the oysters were classic but without surprise, but for 100kr for three we still have to be satisfied. A long wait later, white asparagus with stracciatella, tomato and chili vinaigrette, herb oil, pink pepper & lemon zest and steak tartare with egg 64, pickled silver onion, fried capers, leek oil served with fried rice paper. The asparagus lacked variety in flavor and texture and felt quite... flat? The steak tartare was also good, but felt unimaginative and didn't stand out in the crowd of all the steaks I've tried throughout my career. A while into the meal, I understand that there are only two of them working tonight - one in the tableware and one in the kitchen, and then suddenly get a different view of our experience. Big praise to the guys who made it through the evening, but I can still wish for more of the food that promises high but keeps thin. I will definitely come back, but when the menu is updated and new, slightly more tantalizing flavors, are presented!
