In the forest outside Fritsla, a couple of kilometres south of Borås, you'll find the home-cooking restaurant Håll Käft & Ät ("Shut up and Eat"), run by Johan and Ulrika Arnell in their own outbuilding. They serve tasting menus and drink packages in a rustic setting with long tables, lanterns and an open fire.
Håll Käft & Ät was opened by Johan and Ulrika Arnell in autumn 2021 as a family-friendly little place, and has since drawn in both Fritsla locals and more far-flung foodie guests. The restaurant is housed in a small outbuilding on the farm, with space for 20 guests who eat together around a long table made of thick wood. The idea here is that guests should socialise with each other and have the opportunity to meet new acquaintances. The owners aim to create social dinners with an intimate feel and lots of conversation.
The food consists of a tasting menu with five courses that are adapted to the season and prepared with local ingredients. According to the belief that food tastes best outdoors, dishes are cooked on an open fire all year round. The food is also offered with drink packages with selected wines or beers that match the flavours. The dining session is about three hours long and begins with a little mingling before you sit down at the table and the dishes are presented. Over the course of the evening, the atmosphere usually gets lively.
