Makka Ölkafé

In the 1900s, beer cafés were the place to go for anyone wanting to sink a beer or two, but this pub concept disappeared at the end of the Seventies. Makka Ölkafé, in the Ostindiefararen docklands area, has made it its mission to revive this tradition.  

Makka aims to be a classic yet contemporary beer café, where you can pop by for an early coffee, snack or grab lunch to eat on the waterfront nearby. Or just come in and enjoy an evening of top-notch food and carefully selected drinks. 

The menu is based around one of the world's favourite dishes - the sandwich. “Macka” is the word for sandwich in Swedish and, as the name suggests, sandwiches and beer are the order of the day here. They take sandwiches extremely seriously here, making them with respect and seasonal ingredients, to ensure guests are continuously treated to new flavour experiences. The key words for the menu are simple, relaxed and full of flavour. Influences, impressions and feelings are gathered from all over the world to create a repertoire of sandwiches, smörrebröd open sandwiches and buns and pastries. They also serve soups, stews and salads. 

Of course, there's no beer café without beer. At this beer café you'll find a carefully chosen selection of both local and other Swedish beers as well as beers from other countries. If you're not a beer drinker you can choose from wine, bubbles, cider, snaps and cocktails to go with your sandwich - just like at their predecessors, the beer cafés of the 20th century.
