The exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery features works inspired by the inimitable actress and model.
A timeless icon whose life, beauty, and lasting pop-cultural impact have inspired devotion, fascination, imitation, and even obsession, Marilyn Monroe is the focus of a new exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery. Running until early September, “Marilyn Monroe: A Portrait” marks what would have been the star's 100th birthday with a collection of photographs by some of the most accomplished photographers of her time, alongside personal belongings and works by artists such as Andy Warhol and Audrey Flack. Ranging from her earliest pin-up sessions to images taken in the weeks before her tragic passing, the exhibition offers a closer look at the creative agency and captivating presence that made her one of the biggest stars in history.
“Marilyn Monroe: A Portrait” is on at the National Portrait Gallery until 6 September. Head here to find out more and book your ticket.
