“The World's Best Pizza” is coming to London in May

Pizza fanatics might think they need to fly to Naples to sample the best pizza in the world. In fact, you can actually try it here in London – at least during the month of May. Neapolitan pizza restaurant Fatto a Mano, which has locations in King's Cross and Covent Garden as well as in Brighton, is bringing this impressive pizza to Londoners in a collaboration with master pizzaiolo Franco Pepe.

Throughout May, Pepe's Margarita Sbagliata – meaning “mistaken margarita” – will be available as a special at Fatto a Mano's restaurants. The pizza is made with the restaurant's signature dough topped with buffalo and fior di latte mozzarella, plus a drizzle of Sicilian extra virgin olive oil. After cooking, it's topped with Pepe's signature tomato passata, made with tomatoes grown exclusively for Pepe in his hometown and added to the pizza uncooked to preserve its natural flavour, as well as some dots of basil oil.

If just the description of it wasn't enough to convince you, it might help to know that this pizza has some serious pedigree behind it. Pepe is the reigning World's Best Pizza Chef, awarded at the Best Chef Awards, and also held the title in 2021 and 2022. The Margarita Sbagliata itself was ranked as the best pizza in the world every year from 2016 to 2018. For every pizza sold, £1.50 will be donated to La Scugnazzeria, an Italian charity that gives children the opportunity to learn new skills, including pizza-making. Get down to one of Fatto a Mano's restaurants in May to sample this award-winning pizza for yourself and do some good for a worthy cause.
