2024 Gemini Boat Race crews to be unveiled at public event for the first time in history

The Boat Race Company has announced that the 2024 Gemini Boat Race crews will be publicly unveiled at Battersea Power Station on 13 March at 7.30 pm, marking the first time the naming of the crews is a public event.

The unveiling event at Battersea Power Station will begin with introductions by BBC Sport commentator Andrew Cotter and Siobhan Cassidy, Chair of the Boat Race Company, followed by crew announcements and interviews with the head coaches.

Visitors to the event can show support for either Cambridge or Oxford as the crews are revealed. Earlier on the same day, the Boat Race trophies will be displayed in Turbine Hall B, allowing public interaction and photo opportunities. The Men's Trophy, the Aberdeen "Quaich", and the Women's Trophy, the Newton Trophy, each have unique features symbolising the race's history. From 6 pm, there will be a Q&A session with notable Boat Race alumni, including Team GB rowers who will compete in the Paris 2024 Olympics and Paralympic Games.

The Boat Race, first held in 1829, is a prestigious amateur sporting event, drawing over 250,000 spectators and millions of television viewers. The 2024 race, set for 30 March in Putney, continues the long-standing rivalry between Cambridge and Oxford.
