Central London's best new restaurants and bars of the past year

December 2025

Chargal

11 December 2025

Chargal is an elegant Turkish dining destination set in the heart of Mayfair. The grand, multi-level space offers relaxed, easy-going meals on the ground floor, while the first floor provides a more polished and elevated atmosphere. Across both levels, the kitchen focuses on high-quality Turkish dishes cooked over open fire, with standout options such as Wagyu iskender on the menu. Once dinner is over, guests can slip downstairs to the subterranean bar and club for drinks and late-night revelry.

Dim Sum Library

8 December 2025

Brought to London by the team behind upscale spots like Aqua Shard, this is the first international outpost of Hong Kong's Dim Sum Library. As the name suggests, dim sum takes centre stage, with an extensive range of dumplings and classic Cantonese specialities served alongside cocktails. The chic space, decorated with vintage Chinese posters, also offers afternoon tea.

Mazarine

2 December 2025

Mazarine is a fresh venture inspired by the flavours of France's southern shores. This polished, atmospheric restaurant spotlights lesser-known coastal specialities, such as a richly dressed aïoli served with salt cod, sea urchin, langoustines, and seasonal vegetables, a typical dish from Marseille. A well-curated wine list ties everything together.

Dover Street Counter

1 December 2025

The Dover's little sibling takes the same New York-Italian approach but gives it a more casual, easy-going twist. Expect dishes that blend American comfort with bright Mediterranean flavours, all set to a warm, feel-good backdrop of R&B and soul. It also keeps its doors open late, making it a handy spot for relaxed evenings.

November 2025

Mezzogiorno

20 November 2025

Set within the elegant Corinthia hotel near Charing Cross, Mezzogiorno welcomes guests to experience the vibrant spirit of Southern Italy. Drawing inspiration from Calabria, Basilicata, Puglia, and Sicily, the menu celebrates regional flavours through a fusion of seasonal ingredients, time-honoured recipes, and modern craftsmanship. The open kitchen adds a sense of theatre, while the dining room, dressed in warm terracotta shades and ornate Baroque touches, provides a stylish backdrop for the menu.

Ivan Ramen

19 November 2025

After a hugely successful pop-up in 2023, world-renowned ramen master Ivan Orkin returns to London with a permanent restaurant in Farringdon. This cosy, 26-seat spot showcases his signature creations, including tonkotsu ramen, spicy miso ramen, and Ivan's kara-age chicken. Diners can also enjoy a location-exclusive special: a pillowy bao bun filled with tender beef, tangy pickled cucumber, and punchy karashi mustard mayo.

Khao-Sō-i
