Every time I visit Gothenburg I come here, whether I’m in a shopping mood or not. When one, or at least I, Thinks of a market hall I visualize joy, light, awareness, quality and proud Traders. And you know, you’ll find that here. Actually the market hall doesn’t stand out much and isn’t particularly luxurious but, the “climate.” It is ALWAYS good vibes in here and unpretentious - and no shit, welcome to Gothenburg. I’ve never been met with boredom, those I’ve spoken with are insanely knowledgeable, competent, generous and it tastes good - for a good price (depending on what you’re after, of course).
Cheeses, organic quality bread, several meat and fish counters, nuts, olives, fruit and vegetables, Oriental delicacies, coffee/tea, luxurious chocolate, Greek soups, home-style dishes, cakes... yes you understand, and you probably know what I’m talking about. My gold nuggets here are clearly the food & wine bar Salut (Here they have my favorite Gut Oggau and lunch costs only 100kr/125kr), the kebabberian next door I always forget the name of and På Kanalen which has the city’s cheapest and best coffee as well as lots of tasty raw cookies and juices.
