This charming and intimate neighbourhood restaurant is in the Ostindiefararen docklands area, next to the iconic Eriksberg crane. The restaurant aims to honour the old Swedish agricultural society, taking inspiration from the strenuous domestic work that the “piga” (housemaid) would perform. 

The hard-working housemaid of the turn of the century, who made all the household food from scratch from seasonal ingredients, is the inspiration for this contemporary classic restaurant with a neighbourhood-restaurant vibe. Piga aims to the honour this heritage, working as a housemaid would have, albeit with modern methods. The result is clearly reflected in both the menu and the decor. Specially-made cast iron serving skillets, along with flowery china, create an authentic look.

At Piga they believe that it's mealtimes that bring people together, a part of the day when everyone gathers to chat about this and that. Guests can relax here in homely surroundings and enjoy rustic Swedish and European food with a modern twist, such as pickled cucumber, mini loaves with sour-milk butter, schnitzel, cuts of meat and fish. The menu also includes a “day labourer” dish, inspired by unskilled labourers who worked hard for a daily rate - just ask staff what the dish of the day is, and at what tariff.
