Unacceptable treatment among others by the person who (almost always) stands at the cash register. I have eaten at Saray in Sisjön many times and have wondered how uninterested some of the staff are in us who are customers. During lunch hours you are treated like an animal that only needs to be fed, and unfortunately it seems to get worse. Today (2020-01-23) at 12:30 I was there with my 84-year-old father to celebrate his birthday and we were going to eat from their menu (i.e. not today’s lunch). I asked to have a table where we could sit and study the menu, but I was faced with 2 staff against me - plus the man at the cash register (owner?) - that we may not sit at a table before we have ordered and paid. I said again that we want to sit somewhere to read the menu and we can pay in advance, but Saray’s staff insisted and said; you can stand here on the floor and read the menu, then you pay and afterwards you will be directed to a table. Note! There was NO queue at this time AND there were several available tables. I then stated that my father is 84 years old and he neither accepts nor can stand on the floor to read the menu, and it is also extremely unpleasant to be treated this way. I have traveled in several countries across Europe and have never encountered such treatment. At the simplest little restaurant (with a menu) you always get to sit down and study the menu before ordering (also in Sweden). In any case, after I protested about being treated this way, I/we finally got approval to sit down at a table and read the menu. We ordered various dishes and everything we ate was well prepared and tasty. Both my father and I are well-mannered and well-dressed, so I am very surprised to be treated this way by Saray (yet again). The man who stands at the cash register is otherwise always nonchalant and on the verge of being unpleasant (every time). However, I do want to give a big compliment to the younger dark-haired girl (who has worked there for quite a while) - she is always helpful and pleasant. Perhaps it’s time to stop eating here? Although the food is excellent and tasty!
