Fitzrovia pubs are mainly a weekday proposition, with many of them even closed on Sundays. Regardless, they're a great option for when you'd like the walking distance convenience of a Central London pub while avoiding the constant crowds in Soho and other famous areas. Not to mention, the area used to be a hotbed of bohemian creatives between the wars, and some of that spirit can still be felt in its boozers. In our guide to the best pubs in Fitzrovia, we've picked a handful of locals you'll want to keep in your back pocket, ready to go when the thirst hits.

Where to go for a pint in Fitzrovia

Lore of the Land

Guy Ritchie's local

The Lore of the Land probably has the most famous of all the pubs in Fitzrovia – film director Guy Ritchie – but it's not some pretentious celeb haunt. It's a traditional British pub in every sense of the word, offering a warm welcome in a rustic tavern setting with eclectic artwork and comfy seating. The beers poured at the pewter bar come from Ritchie's own brewery, and the Sunday roast is so good it's sold out months in advance.

The George

Historic pub with modern glow-up

The George, a beautifully restored 18th-century Grade II-listed Fitzrovia pub combines period character with contemporary comfort across its two floors. Its all-day menu celebrates British cuisine, changing with the seasons to keep things fresh and enticing. Upstairs, The Gluepot bar provides a cosy, atmospheric escape, where guests can enjoy inventive cocktails.

The Blue Posts

A quiet haven

The Blue Posts pub in Fitzrovia is operated by Sam Smith's, which restored the building's Victorian roots and instituted its no-tech policy – there are no TVs in the pub, no background music, laptops and phones are prohibited, and loud conversation and swearing are frowned upon. This makes The Blue Posts a great choice when you need a break from the chaos of Central London. The two pub bars pour Sam Smith's brews, and food is served as well.

Bradley's Spanish Bar

A hidden gem of a pub in Fitzrovia

The nomenclature here is a tad misleading – aside from a few decorative touches and the odd Estrella, there's little Spanish about this Fitzrovia pub, nor has anyone named Bradley ever owned the place. Regardless, it's a cracking local boozer with welcoming staff, a nostalgic jukebox, laidback atmosphere, and loyal regulars. It's one of those increasingly rare London drinking dens that feel as genuine as they come.

The Lucky Saint

The local non-boozer

The Lucky Saint is the flagship Fitzrovia pub from one of the leading alcohol-free breweries in the country, marking the company's first step into hospitality. While proudly showcasing an extensive selection of alcohol-free drinks, the venue also serves traditional tipples, so both drinkers and non-drinkers can coexist in harmony here. Spread across several floors, it's a bright, modern pub designed to be inclusive, social, and forward-thinking.

The Grafton Arms

Contemporary Fitzrovia pub with rooms

The Grafton Arms is a stylish modern pub in Fitzrovia that doubles as a boutique stay, featuring elegant rooms with king-sized beds and private bathrooms. The ground-floor pub area comes with a spacious rooftop terrace, offering a relaxed spot for drinks or dining in the open air. The menu highlights pan-Asian flavours in dishes such as curries, bao buns, and noodles.

The Ship

More than 250 years of history

The Ship, a Grade II-listed corner pub in Fitzrovia dating back to 1777, is full of old-world charm thanks to its carpeted floors and brass keg taps adorning the walls. Perfect for savouring a well-poured pint or sampling the Indian-inspired snacks from the kitchen, the family-run pub also hosts lively events like comedy and bingo nights, alongside a handsome function room available for private celebrations.

The King & Queen

Introducing Bob Dylan to Europe

The family-run King & Queen pub is an old-school Fitzrovia institution, serving a respectable range of beers as well as a whisky selection that's not to be sniffed at. The traditional venue is decked out in heraldic shields, photographs, and other pub decor. Live folk music nights are a weekly thing here – Bob Dylan actually played his first-ever show in Europe here in 1962.

The Albany

A Fitzrovia all-rounder

The Albany is a lively Fitzrovia pub suited to everything from casual drinks to special nights out. Behind its striking blue façade lies a bright, inviting interior where guests can enjoy craft beers, cask ales, and classic pub dishes. Adding to the buzz, The Albany regularly hosts comedy nights, live music, and themed quizzes, making it a dependable spot for drinks, food, and fun in equal measure.

The Wheatsheaf

Fitzrovia pub with a wild bohemian past

In the 1930s, The Wheatsheaf was a beloved haunt of London's bohemian crowd, frequented by the likes of George Orwell, Betty May, and Dylan Thomas, who famously proposed to his future wife here. These days, it leads a calmer life as a Nicholson's pub, but its charm remains. Tastefully refurbished, the pub continues to offer timeless comforts – good beer, hearty food, and friendly company.
