Fitzrovia pubs are mainly a weekday proposition, with many of them even closed on Sundays. Regardless, they're a great option for when you'd like the walking distance convenience of a Central London pub while avoiding the constant crowds in Soho and other famous areas. Not to mention, the area used to be a hotbed of bohemian creatives between the wars, and some of that spirit can still be felt in its boozers. In our guide to the best pubs in Fitzrovia, we've picked a handful of locals you'll want to keep in your back pocket, ready to go when the thirst hits.

Where to go for a pint in Fitzrovia
Guy Ritchie's local
The Lore of the Land probably has the most famous of all the pubs in Fitzrovia – film director Guy Ritchie – but it's not some pretentious celeb haunt. It's a traditional British pub in every sense of the word, offering a warm welcome in a rustic tavern setting with eclectic artwork and comfy seating. The beers poured at the pewter bar come from Ritchie's own brewery, and the Sunday roast is so good it's sold out months in advance.

A quiet haven
The Blue Posts pub in Fitzrovia is operated by Sam Smith's, which restored the building's Victorian roots and instituted its no-tech policy – there are no TVs in the pub, no background music, laptops and phones are prohibited, and loud conversation and swearing are frowned upon. This makes The Blue Posts a great choice when you need a break from the chaos of Central London. The two pub bars pour Sam Smith's brews, and food is served as well.

A hidden gem of a pub in Fitzrovia
The nomenclature here is a tad misleading – aside from a few decorative touches and the odd Estrella, there's little Spanish about this Fitzrovia pub, nor has anyone named Bradley ever owned the place. Regardless, it's a cracking local boozer with welcoming staff, a nostalgic jukebox, laidback atmosphere, and loyal regulars. It's one of those increasingly rare London drinking dens that feel as genuine as they come.

Fitzrovia pub with a wild bohemian past
In the 1930s, The Wheatsheaf was a beloved haunt of London's bohemian crowd, frequented by the likes of George Orwell, Betty May, and Dylan Thomas, who famously proposed to his future wife here. These days, it leads a calmer life as a Nicholson's pub, but its charm remains. Tastefully refurbished, the pub continues to offer timeless comforts – good beer, hearty food, and friendly company.
