Following the closure of Fenn, the former head chef Joe Laker and his sous-chef Michael Miles launched Counter 71, a chef's table eatery in Shoreditch, where the Duke of Wellington pub used to be. The menu is billed as a seasonal “ode to the British Isles”, with dishes such as eel tart with fried seaweed and caviar, and is served to 16 people each night, seated around the central green marble counter. The upmarket restaurant is accompanied by Lowcountry, a Southern-inspired cocktail bar in the cellar.
