New restaurants in Gothenburg

In autumn 2025, the team behind Jinx is taking the leap from food truck to restaurant when they open at the property Vi på hörnet, on the corner of Stampgatan/Folkungagatan. In the 300-square-metre space, Jinx will serve an exciting food selection with Asian influences.

The team behind the renowned Michelin restaurant Project is also running this new restaurant, whose concept is described as “contemporary Asian”. Miss Miso will open in spring on Aschebergsgatan 26.

Restaurant Folk on Järntorget is growing. In March 2025, its little sister restaurant Palmes Pentry is opening nearby. This 'bakficka' will have its own bar and a tasting menu that will be a level above what they offer at Folk.

The Malt House inn opens its doors on busy Södra Vägen, but aims to offer something that resembles the British countryside rather than what you might expect to find in Gothenburg. At this gastropub, you can not only enjoy a drink and a bite to eat, but also stay overnight in one of the rooms upstairs – just as at a true English local pub. You can collect your room key at the bar.

If you find yourself in Vasa and your energy starts to wane, you can head to Fred's Food & Coffee. They focus on hearty meals and good coffee, a concept that creates excellent conditions for productive work – which is why they also offer workspaces for those who want to catch up on a few tasks.

New restaurant Elio will be opening its doors on Kungsportsplatsen this spring.

The team from Botánico and Magic Flamingo is opening a Mediterranean-inspired brasserie at Vasaplatsen 10 in the spring. They will serve lunch, dinner, and cocktails in an elegant setting with a sunny outdoor seating area.

Suber is opening on Aschebergsgatan in Vasa. They describe themselves as a neighbourhood bistro focusing on food from both Scandinavia and France. Drinks-wise, they offer mainly quality wines and natural wines served by the glass.

Beets is a healthfood restaurant popular for its tasty and creative salads. With carefully selected ingredients, Beets has been a favourite among health-conscious Gothenburgers since they established themselves on Drottninggatan in 2018. The new branch in Kvarteret Regina will be Beets' second restaurant in Gothenburg.

Restaurateur brothers Miki and Kiki Ingber are at the helm of this restaurant, which they describe as a “not-too-serious restaurant”. This is not the brothers' first restaurant – they've also opened Puta Madre and Grill del Mundo together.

Panchito's started out as a roaming food truck, but from autumn 2024 they can be found at a fixed address in Nordostpassagen. Authentic street food from Mexico is the focus, primarily influenced by the regions of Tlaxcala, Yucatan and Holbox Island. On the menu, you'll find tacos and burritos with both meat and vegetarian options.

While waiting for their own food truck to get up and running (which will likely be in the summer), you'll find Oro Pinsa & Deli inside Poké Corner, where they're running a pop-up with Italian flavours. Order pinsa and nibbles from the deli, to eat on the premises or take away. Oro also offers catering for both small and large events.

Gothenburg's oldest bowling hall, Majorna Bowling, is opening Restaurant Backen at Stigbergsliden 16 next to the bowling hall, with experienced restaurateurs leading the project. 

In the architect-designed Kasper Salin building is Nomi, which consists of two restaurants, Aji and Révolte. Aji will offer Nikkei cuisine, while Révolte will have a new guest chef each month. Nomi also features a bar with DJs and music events, as well as a gallery where both local and international creators can exhibit.

Matsumi offers an extensive menu of Asian dishes such as sushi, ramen, and poke bowls, made with fresh ingredients to bring out the best flavours. The restaurant is charmingly decorated with Japanese details like cherry blossom trees and maneki-neko, that is to say, waving cats. Book a table, drop in, or collect your food as takeaway.

With its cheeky name, this Vietnamese restaurant is an exciting new addition on Linnégatan. They don't just Vietnamese food here, but “Pho King Good” Vietnamese food. Choose from authentic street food dishes such as steaming pho, crispy spring rolls, and banh mi.

On Lindholmsallén 26A, Allén is a new sushi restaurant in Lindholmen, opening in Autumn 2024, where you can satisfy your hunger with sushi and poké bowls.

The Götaplatsgruppen and Park Lane have teamed up to create Restaurant Collage, a brasserie inspired by the neighbourhood restaurants of Paris, the bistros of New York, and the relaxed atmosphere of Gothenburg. Enjoy both lunch and dinner with French influences, or opt for a carefully crafted cocktail, in historic surroundings. They share a kitchen with Studion by Collage, their slightly more lively oenophile little sister.

Wolfgang has transformed into White Dove, a new restaurant run by three siblings who previously operated Marstrands Wärdshus and Grand Hotel Marstrand. European flavours are served at lunch and dinner, complemented with wine. The name is a tribute to the club Hvita Dufvan, which the owners' uncles opened in 1965 on Avenyn.

Cheri-Lee on Avenyn has welcomed the addition of its sister restaurant Cheri-Jouko in Lindholmen. The menu at this pan-Asian restaurant includes sushi, dumplings, and cocktails with Asian flavours and the idea is to order a bit of everything and share the food around the table.

Cocktails, "crazy golf" and pizza are the order of the day at the Underground Golf Club, the Norwegian concept that's taken over the legendary Sticky Fingers premises. They aim to create a nice place to play mini golf, with exceptional sound and lighting. The restaurant serves pizza and drinks if you get hungry and thirsty.

Hasselsson have made a name for themselves with their fish and shellfish-based street food, which has several branches in Gothenburg and one in Stockholm. They're now planning a “Hasselsson 2.0” on Drottninggatan. The new Hasselsson has an open kitchen and pared-back interiors that reflect the harbour and the city's fishing culture. Seating is available both inside and outside, as well as at the bar counter.

Sago Izakaya is housed in Saga's old premises on Aschebergsgatan.  Japanese gastronomy meets modern culinary craftsmanship, with Southeast Asian influences. Come by for a delightful fusion experience, whether it's for a quick bite to eat or a relaxed long dinner.

Restaurant Fabel, in Smaka's old premises, is an unpretentious local restaurant whose menu revolves around Swedish-French classics with a new twist. The restaurant is run by the experienced team behind Ankarsmedjan Social.

Restaurant INTE on Linnégatan is run by the same owners as Tizne and Koizen. INTE is a cosy local bistro where the kitchen focuses on modern European cuisine. Sharing menus and a substantial à la carte menu are the order of the day here.

Cong Tai serves up authentic flavours from Vietnam and other Asian cuisines, along with refreshing cocktails to enjoy with your food. Fresh ingredients are the order of the day here. 

Forno focuses on Neapolitan-style pizza, with classic toppings and unique creations. Affordability and passion are the keywords.

Egon prides itself on being an unusually ordinary restaurant.This family-friendly joint in the city centre serves classic dishes like burgers and pizza, with a special emphasis on food that also appeals to younger palates.

Chef Måns Backlund is the driving force behind Tångbaren, a seafood restaurant by the sea on the island of Styrsö.

Spanish flavours take centre stage at Bar el Guiri. The restaurant consists of four sub-concepts including a pintxos bar, a classic restaurant with an open kitchen, an ice cream parlour serving ice cream, churros and coffee, and an upstairs lounge. In true Spanish spirit, they serve both beer and wine from selected producers and you can play both shuffleboard and boules in the leafy lounge, just like on a Spanish summer's day.

Bistro Allé has brought a wide range of flavours from around the world to Norra Allégatan. The extensive menu revolves around seasonal ingredients. Their aim is to create memorable dining experiences and offer a flavour journey for all the senses.

Ego Distillers has established itself in one of Gamlestaden's red-brick factory building, thereby, according to them, establishing Gothenburg's coolest distillery and cocktail bar.

Large restaurant with a focus on the Mediterranean. On Kungsgatan in the middle of central Gothenburg, it has a whopping 100 seats, so you can gather the whole family, friends or work team for some food and drinks.

Big things are happening at Feskekörka! The new incarnation of the Gothenburg institution consists of two fishmongers and four restaurants. The two fish counters are called Ebbes Fångst and Flåtens Fisk, with the latter offering a range of classic fish from the North Sea and the Barents Sea, as well as caviar and roe. Enjoy a glass of wine, socialise, buy seafood, and visit the restaurants.

Elviras Skärgårdskrog opened its doors at Lilla Brattön's guest harbour just in time for summer. They serve flavours with local ingredients at lunch and dinner, and they also organise live performances on the outdoor terrace and in the garden.

Some major changes have taken place at Brahegatan 10, now home to Tycho. They call their cuisine Continental and don't limit themselves to any specific country, but mix and match flavours from all over Europe and use fresh ingredients in season.

No smoke without fire - if you love proper smoky BBQ you'll love Mugwort's. BBQ enthusiasts Johan Kullberg and Sanna Kullberg keep the grills glowing. Until their permanent premises opens you'll find them at their pop-up at Spike Brewery.

The name of this neighbourhood tavern is borrowed from a well-known Gothenburg personality called Kalle Glader, and they aim is to be as popular as their namesake. The atmosphere here is inclusive, with homely interiors and a well-stocked selection of beers. When it comes to food, the focus is on rustic traditional dishes and brunch, all at prices that suit even the slimmest of wallets.

At Slice, it's not about winning or losing, even though everything revolves around table tennis. Grab a bat and have a few rounds with friends, cool off with a beer, and replenish your energy with a slice of pizza when hunger strikes.

Foajén is Unity Jazz's little sister joint, or 'back pocket' (bakficka) as they're often called in Sweden. Bakficka restaurants and bars have a slightly nostalgic glow for the team behind Foajén: from the late 90s to the early 00s, the backficka was revolutionary, a hip place for them to hang out when the main bars were taken over by their parents. Nowadays, they have a different tone, but they've maintained the relaxed style and, like Unity Jazz, continue to be a place to socialise, eat and drink.

Dubbelhakan serves Neapolitan wood-fired pizza paired with both natural and more classic wines. Dive in if you find something you like, as the wine list is ever-changing. Complement with some small bites like cold cuts, local cheeses, and fermented vegetables and you'll be in for a treat.

This is Spanska Köket's little sister restaurant. Enjoy tapas, beer, and wine every Friday and Saturday, and at other times, you can hire out the entire place.

Gothenburg's new event arena Monument 031 spans over 1200 sqm and, as well as two stages, houses several bars, food trucks and eateries. All types of music genres are welcome here, as well as clubs, parties, and other events. 

Bombay Street's second establishment can be found on Ånäsvägen, where they have created a colourful haven inspired by the street food of India's lively metropolises. You'll find all the classic dishes, as well as new favourites, on the menu.

Due Ragazzi means “two guys”, and sure enough, the restaurant is run by two guys with a great passion for food. Simple Italian food takes centre stage here, with dishes such as pasta and pinsa on the menu.

The aperitivo bar Al Banco has taken over Alora's premises and offers an Italian-style all-day concept that extends from the early hours of the morning until the early evening. Coffee, breakfast, artisanal pasta and local beer are on the food and drinks list.

Suggan wine bar will be an exciting new addition to the Majorna restaurant scene when it opens this year. The emphasis is on wine-friendly Nordic comfort food with international flavours and exciting wines.  

Nou is a restaurant of many different parts, serving, among other things, flavours from Southern Europe and the Caribbean at reasonable prices. There's an area with shuffleboard and open fireplaces, as well as a cookery studio for food-related activities.

At Deshi, the aim is to bring Indian heritage to the people of Gothenburg, offering a vibrant dining experience that transports guests to the bustling alleys of India. Enjoy Indian classics with a modern twist, catering to both meat lovers and vegetarians with plenty of options to choose from.

This colourful cocktail bar in Linné also serves Asian fusion dishes to share at the table. Classic drinks are mixed with signature variations in Blind Mango's own style.
