For Halloween, wine brand 19 Crimes is partnering with Shoreditch barber Ruffians for a unique event where Dean Gleeson, British Barber of the Year, will sculpt Halloween-themed designs into body hair. Yes, body hair, not just head hair.
The event offers daring participants the chance to get a free, spooky haircut inspired by 19 Crimes' limited-edition Halloween labels, including designs like a mummy, skeleton, and Grim Reaper, shaved into their head, or chest, or back. Barber Dean Gleeson plans to create a “portrait gallery” of partially shaved humans showcasing these themed artworks. He expects he can complete up to 20 haircuts on the day, with simple designs like cobwebs taking five minutes, while more intricate designs may require up to an hour. Hair density, especially on the chest and back, is of course a factor for participants seeking detailed styles.
The unusual event builds on research from 19 Crimes showing Brits' top “horror” haircuts, with the “rat tail” deemed the least popular. Other disliked cuts include the bowl cut, mullet, and Robocop style. Despite these “hair horrors,” 35% of people would still risk a bold haircut if it were free, so if you're one of those brave souls, you can book your free Halloween haircut on 31 October through the link here. You'll even be treated to a complimentary glass of 19 Crimes wine as Gleeson works his magic. Plus, that's your Halloween costume sorted!
