Vibrant red pub The Dog and Bell is a big part of the community in Deptford, hosting a range of events that bring people together. If you fancy yourself as a bit of a foodie, there's an event coming up on 11th November that you won't want to miss – it's the pub's 27th annual Pickle Festival.
The pub is inviting its fans to unleash their cooking creativity and enter delicious homemade treats into a competition to crown the ultimate food champion in a number of different categories. If you're an expert in cooking up pickles, chutneys, preserves, hot sauce, bread, or cakes, bring your creation to the pub by 8pm on the day to enter. Tasting and judging kicks off at 8.30pm. Don't worry if your attempts at cooking usually set off the smoke alarm – there are also categories for photography and arts and crafts.
As well as the competition, on the day there will be live music, delicious food to sample, and a friendly community feel. Whether you're aiming to take home the top prize or just want to soak up the atmosphere at this award-winning venue, there will be plenty of fun and foodie treats to enjoy.
