If the holiday season merely whetted your appetite for pretty lights, you're in luck.

Starting on Wednesday 17 January, the annual Canary Wharf Winter Lights festival is back. Welcoming visitors from all over London, this free-to-visit festival features a light trail encompassing a dozen spectacular installations by some of the most renowned light artists in the world, along with Canary Wharf's permanent light artworks.

Juxtaposing nature and technology, this year's Winter Lights festival includes works such as the interactive installation “On the Wave of Light”, which reacts to passers-by, a giant marble run in Wren Landing, a blazing installation in Westferry Circus, the return of crowd favourite “Submergence” to Montgomery Square, and more.

The Winter Lights festival takes place across the entire Canary Wharf estate, daily from 5 to 10 pm. As it's free, it can get pretty busy on weekends, so you'll want to go on a weekday if you'd rather avoid the crowds. The final day to visit is Saturday 27 January.
