Whilst drive-thru restaurants certainly aren't as popular here as they are across the Atlantic, when you do happen upon one it's usually fast food burgers or chicken. Thanks to Gail's Bakery, that could soon be set to change. The well-established bakery group opened their first store in Hampstead back in 2005 and now have over 100 stores around the country, most of which are in London. The group is now looking to expand even further by securing 10 drive-thru locations in the coming year.

Gail's is particularly well-known for fresh bread, sweet pastries, and strong coffee. The chain is working with a property advisory company to identify sites of between 2,000 and 4,000 square feet, plus space for at least 20 cars. Although no locations have yet been confirmed, current plans indicate that the drive-thru bakeries will be located in London and the South East.

Details on where the first drive-thru will be located are expected to become available in the next 12 months. If you simply can't wait that long, you can still buy your favourite baked treats from all of Gail's existing locations – you'll just have to walk in to place your order instead.
