We've got some sad and shocking news for pizza lovers in London. Well-established pizza chain Franco Manca is set to close its original Brixton restaurant, the one that started it all. This place has been trading in buzzy Brixton Market for 15 years, spawning countless new locations and turning the place into one of London's most popular pizza chains, as well as growing its presence outside of the capital. This sad news has come about because the restaurant is now simply too small to cope with demand.

But all is not lost – the Brixton branch will be reopening in a new and larger location that will let the team feed even more hungry pizza eaters. The exact location and opening date are yet to be announced, with the Franco Manca team describing the move as happening “soon”. At the new site you'll still be able to enjoy the same informal atmosphere and pared-back menu of delicious seasonal pizzas.

It's undoubtedly the end of an era, so get down to the Brixton branch soon if you want a chance to visit the original location one last time. We'll bring you updates about the new Brixton site as soon as we find out more.
