The World’s 50 Best Bars 2022 were announced on 4th October, and whilst London didn’t nab the top spot, we can happily say that the capital is home to an impressive five of the best bars in the world, with one of them just pipped to the post and coming in at number two. In fact, two of London’s bars made it into the top ten.
Paradiso in Barcelona was ranked as the number one bar in the world but Old Street’s Tayēr + Elementary got second place, receiving praise for its total re-imagination of what a cocktail bar can be. The world-famous Connaught Bar came in at number eight.
A little further down the list but just as deserving of attention is Satan’s Whiskers in Bethnal Green, which entered at number 23. This is the first time the bar has been included in the list. Swift in Soho made its return to the list at number 30, having not made the cut last year. Finally, A Bar with Shapes for a Name came in at number 37, also entering the list for the first time. Bar-crawlers in London are clearly spoilt for choice, and whilst we didn’t win first place in 2022, there’s always next year.
