Meatopia is an annual celebration of all things meat, fire, and smoke, and it's back this week for four days of feastivities.
From 29 August to 1 September, the Tobacco Dock venue will be enveloped in clouds of smoke, the smell of sizzling meat, and the heat coming off from the fire pits and grills. This epic four-day festival is a carnivore's haven, bringing together chefs from some of the most acclaimed culinary establishments in the country and beyond to show off their live-fire cooking skills and serve up all sorts of delicious meaty delights. There's food, there's drinks, there's brass bands – it's indulgent, fun, and decidedly non-veggie.
In previous years, over 70 of the world's best live-fire chefs cooked exclusive dishes over three days, using nothing but sustainable wood and charcoal and responsibly sourced, quality ingredients, which means just meat, fish, and vegetables. Their roster of chefs includes Francis Mallmann, Niklas Ekstedt, Amninder Sandhu, Yotam Ottolenghi, Dave Pynt, Aaron Franklin, Fergus Henderson, Bryan Furman, and Lennox Hastie.
Meatopia will take place at Tobacco Dock from Thursday, 29 August, to Sunday, 1 September. More information and tickets are available here.
