21st April promises to be an even busier day than usual in central London. Not only is the world-famous London Marathon taking place but it's also St George's Day, and there's a big celebration in Trafalgar Square to honour the patron saint of England, as well as all things English. This is the 17th edition of this annual celebration.
The event is free to attend and includes lots of England-themed fun for the entire family. On the main stage there will be a mix of traditional and contemporary musical acts, including a Cockney sing-a-long. There's lots to do in-between checking out the music as well – ride on the carousel, get your face painted, try on a medieval costume, learn to Morris dance, sing folk songs and sea shanties, or join a unique pentathlon that celebrates English eccentricity. You'll also be able to meet some of London's Pearly Kings and Queens. Street food vendors and two bars will be available on-site.
