September brings another crop of Carousel guest chef residencies

Month in and month out, Fitzrovia wine bar and kitchen Carousel brings some of the most exciting culinary talent from around the world to London, and September is no different. Get ready to try one of Lima's finest eateries, hang out with Romy Gill and her friends as they celebrate the release of her new book, get a taste of one of London's hottest openings of 2025, and journey across China, all in the span of just 30 days.

Ricardo Martins, Siete (3–7 September)

Lima is home to three of the World's 50 Best Restaurants, and rising star Ricardo Martins could soon join their ranks with his restaurant, Siete. Combining the finest seasonal Peruvian ingredients with traditional Japanese techniques, Ricardo creates vibrant Nikkei-inspired dishes that have captured the attention of food enthusiasts and the World's 50 Best Discovery list. Despite its unassuming location in a century-old building in Barranco, Siete has quickly become a hotspot for Lima's discerning diners, drawn by its inventive cuisine, refined cocktails, and lively atmosphere.

Romy & Friends (10–14 September)

Romy Gill returns to Charlotte Street's Carousel to celebrate her most personal book launch, joined by five of her closest industry friends. Throughout the week, these chefs—Ellis Barrie, Ollie Templeton, Avi Shashidhara, Mike Reid, and Anna Haugh—will add their own Indian-inspired touches to Romy's classic dishes and debut new creations from her book, “Romy Gill's India.” The collaboration promises a memorable culinary experience, capturing the true essence of home-cooked Indian cuisine.

Carolina Bazán & Rosario Onetto, Mareida (17–21 September)

Mareida, the highly anticipated London debut of Chilean culinary icon Carolina Bazán and her sommelier wife, Rosario Onetto, is previewing its menu with a Carousel residency. Carolina, named Latin America's Best Female Chef in 2019 by the World's 50 Best, is known for her innovative 'New Chilean' style at Santiago's Ambrosía, which captures the diverse and cosmopolitan essence of modern Chilean cuisine. Mareida's menu will blend influences from across Chile, from Patagonia to the Atacama, offering dishes like 'Scallop Parmesana', 'Grilled Sea Bass with Quinoa and Pebre', and creative bites such as 'Fish Tartare with Granita in an Ice Cream Cone', making it a must-visit when it opens on Great Portland Street in early 2025.

Michael Janczewski, Bastard (24–28 September)

Leading the charge in Shanghai's culinary revolution is Bastard, a vibrant 'mod-Chinese' restaurant known for its exciting menu. Offering a concise yet flawless selection of dishes inspired by various Chinese regions, highlights include 'Xianjing-style Dan Dan Noodles', 'Ma La Beef with Spring Onion Pancake', and 'Prawn Toast Two-Way with Jiu Niang and Pomelo'.
